As a member of CIEEM’s Ecological Restoration and Habitat Creation Special Interest Group, Dr Tim Graham, Associate Director at RSK Wilding took part in RSK Biocensus’s First Thursday Club in March 2025. The First Thursday Club presents scientific, specialist-led webinars on the first Thursday of each month, covering a wide range of current environmental and ecological issues.

In this insightful webinar, Tim provides an overview of ecological restoration within the context of the CIEEM Ecological Restoration and Habitat Creation Special Interest Group, a growing field in the environmental sector. He outlines the publication and training process associated with the project’s development and introduces one of the key overarching topics set to be published first and outlines the importance and relevance of large-scale nature recovery and restoration to current and future practice, as well some key elements: building resilience, complexity, dealing with change and adaptive management.

Tim joined RSK Biocensus in October 2022. He has spent over 20 years in the environmental sector, moving from research into nature conservation and restoration. Most recently, Tim spent time developing an ecology-focused team at the Office for Environmental Protection. Before that, over the previous five years, Tim was CEO of two Wildlife Trusts, and he is a trustee at Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.
